COMMERCIAL

SECTION J

All new commercial building developments, extensions or alterations are required to show compliance with the energy-efficiency provisions as set out in Section J of the Building Code of Australia (BCA), Volume 1. An energy-efficiency assessment is mandatory as part of every building development application.

For commercial projects classes 2-9, Green House provides a comprehensive report based on Section J, using either

(a) deemed to satisfy or
(b) verification methods.

The objective of Section J is to 'reduce green house gas emissions by efficiently using energy'.

It achieves this objective by stipulating performance requirements in the following categories:

    1. energy efficiency
    2. building fabric
    3. external glazing
    4. building sealing
    5. air movement
    6. air conditioning and ventilation systems
    7. artificial lighting and power
    8. hot water supply, and
    9. access for maintenance

Green House works closely with the client to produce cost-effective solutions complying with Section J. A comprehensive report is provided that is suitable for submission to council or a building surveyor.
